2008 National Conference

PARENTS OF MURDERED CHILDREN (POMC)
For families and friends of those who have died by violence

HONORING 30 YEARS OF POMC

You are invited to Southern California for three days of healing, information, and hope ...

IMPORTANT CONFERENCE UPDATES!

  • If you are bringing children (ages 5-17) to the conference, you must register them ahead of time if they are going to participate in the "Healing Circles for Kids Who Hurt" workshop.  There is a separate registration form that needs to be completed for this workshop before July 25th.  Contact us and we'll send it to you.

If they are not participating in the workshop, you'll need to make arrangements for their safekeeping while you attend the other workshops.  We are not providing child care and, because of the sensitive nature of the workshops, children under the age of 18 are not permitted to attend.

  • During the meals, no one will be permitted to sit at the table without a meal ticket (you get these with your paid registration).  This includes the children.  The reason being that we need to give the hotel a final headcount for meals well before the conference begins to ensure we have ordered enough meals for the weekend.  We also want to make sure every paid registrant has a place to sit.  Please check the registration form for meal prices for children.

  • If you want to bring a chapter quilt or anything else to display at the conference, you MUST let us know by July 25th.  We are allocating some space for chapter displays and we want to be sure we have room for every one of them.  If you do not notify us before July 25th, we can't promise we'll be able to honor your request.

  • Don't forget to pack warm clothing for our Beach Memorial on Friday night.  It can get chilly at Huntington Beach once the sun sets and we want you to be comfortable.

  • If you are planning to participate in the Scrapbooking Workshop, be sure to bring extra photos to work with.

What is a POMC National Conference?
The annual POMC National Conference is specifically designed for the families and friends of those who have died by violence.  The conference brings POMC members together for a weekend of training, workshops, motivational speakers, sharing, and interacting.  It is an opportunity for survivors nationwide to meet, learn, and grow.  The conference is open to all survivors, advocates, criminal justice professionals, legislators, victim service providers, educators, and anyone interested in victim justice.
